Game Analysis Programs

Sort:

I'm looking for a free chess program that can analyze a game and pop it out with variations and +/- scores. The only one I've been able to find so far is SCID but I have a few gripes about it-- the main one is that I can only save games as SCID files, and I would like to have the option of adding more variations, giving +/- scores for more moves, etc..

For interfaces I have used XBoard and Arena. I am sure there are better, though.

*facepalm*

The whole point of this post was to get an interface that would use the engine to analyze games for me and add variations, scores, etc. Engines are not the problem at all..

Look at the links to the left on the web page I gave you... There is a section for interfaces including the ones I named. Instead of using your hand for face palms use it for mouse clicks.... http://lmgtfy.com/?q=chess+interfaces

By Googling Chess Interfaces you will find similar links to those on the page I initially posted. The Wikipedia Article has links to Arena (which I mentioned in my post http://lmgtfy.com/?q=arena+chess) and Jose Chess (which was buggy for me when I used it). Since I had mentioned Arena in my initial post and you apparently could not google it, do you need me to download it and install it for you as well?

The interfaces you mentioned (arena, jose, and xboard) are already well known to me and do not have game analysis features, they only have background analysis features, which isn't really what I want. And trust me, I've spent my fair share of time googling it. If I had not done any research beforehand I would have not posted here.

You can also save as PGN (use Tools | Export to PGN ). And you can add any number of variations and annotations, what exactly isn't working?
