Someone has given me all of his gary Lane books. They are: Find the Checkmate,Improve your chess in 7days, Find the winning move, and Sharpen your tactics in 7 days. What should I do? Read them or pass them on to someone else? Have any of you read then? Please advise. Stwils.

I hope I entered this in the right forum. Anyone?

Can't say i have read them, but i have glanced at them in a shop.  If you have other books then perhaps you should list those too, otherwise I'm not sure it will make that much difference which order you read them in, and i don't remember them being that dense so they shouldn't take too long to go through

You can check the reviews and prices on amazon.com (they would be considered USED if read or sat around and have a little wear), read them if you think they will be worth it or sell the lot for say $15-$20.

I read a bit in one of the books. Mediocre. There are better books.

I paid good money for those! Improve your chess in 7 days is widely thought to be first rate but of course will take longer than 7 days. The sequal is Sharpen your tactics in 7 days which Has the same cartoonist, adding some interest to the instructive chapters. I really liked it but maybe it depends on your rating. I was 1846 at the time (now 2041) and they had a positive effect to be honest. The quiz book Find the Checkmate is what it says. A bit of fun to read on the way to work for people rated about 1400 and upwards. Free books are always good
