Here's an update after reading some of the material suggested in this post:
Jeremy Silman's - How to reassess your chess & the amateurs mind, both excellent positional books that I would highly recommend. they are pretty enjoyable and funny reads, and very enlightening on strategic chess and provides good principles.
CT art (4.0) - thought not a book, it's a very practical tactics program that will develop your calculation and maybe visualization. the puzzles presented are very well thought out complicated combinations with variations.
Chessimo - it's also a program, and instead uses pattern recognition, developing your intuition.the program comes with strategy, tactics, endgames, and openings puzzles. the content is massive and is less work than fun.
Dan Heisman - Back to basics: Chess tactics a great book on tactical recognition in your everyday chess games. in my games I've found myself winning with the very tactical positions presented in the book.
Andrew Solitis - Not been able to read many of his books, but seem a very experienced and dedicated chess teacher with some worthy chess wisdom.
Other authors I'll read are nunn, chernev, and reinfeld
I just got Amerature's mind, and reading the first few pages my game improved! lol thanks for the suggestion.
