 I was wondering about what are the best grandmaster/tournament analysis game books since this is reccomended as a good way to improve...

A good first one is Chernev's "Logical Chess: Move by Move".

 Yes, I've read that one. Good book! I've also read his "The Most Instructive Games of Chess Ever Played".
