I know that it may actually not be possible to identify every random chess set that is floating around out there, but I was wondering if anyone could maybe just point me in the right direction. I have an older(?) ivory chess set, that I've had for over 30 years (i'm 40 now). I learned to pay chess with this set, but being that I was so young and didn't know any better, I also played with the chess pieces like they were toys and ended up loosing or breaking the finials off the kings and queens and also parts of the rooks and knights. I have no interest in selling this set ever, but would like to know the providence of it, and also want to have it repaired. So far, the most help I've received has been from Jon Crumiller who actually does have a similar set, but with some small variations. Mr. Crumiller also recommended somone to do the repairs. I will attach some images of my set and also of Mr. Crumiller's set. It looks like the order of the pictures attached are; Crumiller's first, then a knights comparison, then mine last. They seem to be both from the same maker? but whoever that is is a mystery. The main differences between the sets are that his king is 3" while mine would be 2.5" and my knights seem more finely carved than his. Thanks for any help or recommendations.
