If your interested making your own board read on. 1. Purchase a single ply section of plywood 19"x19". 2.Choose a color for the board and buy a can of spray paint. 3, Buy a roll of good masking tape. 4. Buy a roll of Gorilla tape. Cut the section of plywood in half 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. Using a ruler or T square create a boarder of 1 " on the 3 sides of each piece of plywood that are the exterior of the board . Within the boarder measure the squares at 2 1/.8 by 2 1/8 inches for 64 squares. Carefully cover the squares that will not be spray painted with masking tape. Spray paint the board and let it dry for an hour. Very carefully remove the masking tape from the boards. Finally turn over the board and place three strips of Gorilla tape evenly spaced , top/center/ bottom connecting each board. Great !! You now have the thinnest, lightest folding chess board ever made in my opinion.Total cost about $15 . Andy

You have to be on a actual comp, it doesn't work over the app but there should be an insert photo button.

How long does it take you to make one?

ACWolfpack

Rsava, it will take about 6 hours. That includes buying the wood, and other things before you actually work on the board. Andy

If you take your time and practice, you can make a pretty good looking board with just spray paint and tape.  I don't cut mine in half for folding, but I do use just spray paint and tape to make my chess boards.

ACWolfPack,

In the box for posting comments the left hand square next to the chess board is the one you want. Hover over it. It says "Insert image".
