How to Beat Your Dad at Chess

I would think most serious players can beat their dad. I guess it sucks if you're in the Shahade family though! But Greg made it - not sure about Jennifer.

In reply to the deleted OP, I wrote:

Guenther Ossimitz, who maintains the longest running list of pgn files for chess books, states:

"Please do not send me any collections of Gambit Publications books, I won't put them on my chess-site due to a Copyright request of Mr. Graham Burgess, Editorial Director of Gambit Publications Ltd"

Collections from Books

Based on that statement, I'll wager that you'll find the answer to be no.

What does the fact that you already beat your dad have to do with my question, you stupid moron?

this is funny.

Well, what you said was pretty irrelavent. Not saying he was justified in calling you a moron, but still...

Actually it was relevant and this user actually needs to be reported...though since he's only been on the site for 10 days, I doubt it's going to really mean much.  Smile

karpov444

You say he should be reported, but you were laughing it off earlier...

Kernicterus

I don't see how my laughing means he shouldn't be reported.  I laugh at lots of things that need to be reported.  Why are you in this topic?

Fromper

No, your comment was completely irrelevent. He asked about a book with the title "How to Beat Your Dad at Chess", which is a great book with an admittedly silly title, and you made a silly comment. I'm not saying that he should be calling you names, but your comment was still silly and irrelevent.

Kernicterus

Oh, I see.  My comment was "silly and irrelevant".  Fromper, please do make sure you examine all the threads and give us your verdict on that.  Since when did forum comments require you to answer the OPs question?  I'll try to restrain my gleeful remarks.

chessgames.com has some of the games in pgn, I don't know if you have to have any membership of not (I pay $25 a year to be a member)

It may have been irrelevant, but it was also entirely benign and all in good fun.  The response, on the other hand, was quite disproportionate.

It was the yay part, that made it sound silly. If she had just said I already beat my dad in chess! That would of been okay.

It was the yay?  lol.

recor...the general atmosphere of these forums is not of the sort that people can't post little offhand comments.  And the frustration?  Because someone made a comment on his thread that didn't answer the question?  Hmm.  This might explain the increasing sales of "happy medications".

Prozac, anyone?

EternalChess

Ask carlsen how to beat your dad.. and maybe then you can be the best in the world :D

":D"?  Are you sure you didn't mean "Yay!"?

It's good to see that chess.com is still the same friendly community that I've come to know and love.  Did you create this account for the sole purpose of posting that?

Beat it guys! If you want to see only questions and answers, strictly speaking, this is not the right site.

Having it deleted by a moderator the first time wasn't enough of a hint?

TheGrobe

Yeah, foolproof really....

Admittedly I have too much time on my hands...but this thread is turning into the light of my night.
