Click the center button to turn it on... Hold the center button and then it should come to edit mode. You can use the other buttons to adjust the numbers and the center one to switch the ditgits... keep clicking the center one and it should bring you to delay and then increment and so on. Adjust them as you want and there you go! Everytime you turn it on by just clicking the center your preset will be there.
How to reset Chronos Chess clock?
sorry if I was not clear. I wish to reset all my custom preset to orginal factory settings.
Thank you!

Oh, sorry... In that case I do not know how to do that. I've never had a reason to do it before and I can not find the instruction book that came with mine. I hope someone else is able to help!

vij: You were clear enough. It's just that getting back to the original Chronos settings is unintuitive, clumsy and frankly horrible.
* Turn the clock off with the center button and five taps.
* Hold both left and right buttons down.
* Click the center red button.
* Clock comes up with "F1" and "F2"
"F1" means factory setting #1. To return to the original F1 setting:
* Click button above F1.
* Press red button down until leftmost number flashes.
* Click red button until display reads "COPY TO 0". (16 clicks, I think.)
* Click right button once so it reads "COPY TO 1".
* Click red button once.
Now repeat this procedure for the other 12 factory settings so the fourth step reads "COPY TO N" where the N is the factory setting you want.
Oh, and don't make any mistakes.
Maybe there is a better way than this, but I don't know it. Even disconnecting the main battery won't work.
Mostly you should forget about getting back to the original settings. Just figure out the settings you want and clobber your previous user settings.
MasterMatthew52, no Problem. Thanks for your response.
ipcress12, I just asked for my information only. I will never do it. Thanks for your guidance.

BTW, one can download the Chronos manual from the web.

It drives me more than a bit crazy when people claim the Chronos is straightforward.
It isn't. I've been a professional software developer since 1986. The Chronos has one of the worst interfaces I've ever seen.

True enough! <emoticon> back atcha.
It's like Roman Numerals and Arabic. There are only so many number glyphs, but the way they are combined makes all the difference.

I'm a software/hardware designer too and I have to agree with Ipcress. The Chronos has the worst user interface that I have ever seen.

I have a chronos, and I agree that the interface is horrible. I had an experienced tournament director set the time controls for me (after I totally scrambled them trying to set them myself), but now I don't dare mess with settings. But I still love my clock anyway, because of its durability, easy to read display, and its sweet click and feel (the model with buttons that move; don't like the model with the motionless metal mushrooms).
I currently own a few Chronos clocks and use them.
It's true that the interface is, well, complicated at best.
However, I came across a way to set these clocks up and not really have the need to go back to the manual to figure out anything:
I only use the first 4 presets. The other 8 are just too hard to remember to use or get to.
I have on setting with only single digits for the minutes and a delay. For this I use AN - 1A. This is the time control I use for Blitz, usually G/5, d/5 or d/3.
For my two digit in minutes time control I use CH - A1. This allows me times from G/10 to G/99 with delay.
For games longer than G/90 I use AN - 1. I usually have G/120, d/5 on this clock.
In my tournament Chronos I save the CH - A1 setting in the first preset that is on the display right away when I turn on the clock. In my older one that I use for Bliitz and skittles the AN - 1A with the single minute digit is in the first preset.
It's really easy to use set up this way.
Hi,
I recently baught the chronos chess clock. Its is awesome to customize and play. I have customized the first 5 preset.
If I would like to go back to orginal factory settings [say 5 mins blitz mode @ 1st place] how should I reset so that I get my clock back to orginal pre-defined settings?
Thanks in advance!
Happy New Year!
