I love my set for study on the go but find if I want to travel and play this on the travel that it is harder to find people who can the board with 2D pieces. I found this board bit still not sure how small I can go with others who will see on it well. Here is a product that seems closer to what might fit the bill. What do you think? https://www.chesshouse.com/products/8-magnetic-travel-chess-set-in-rosewood?_pos=1&_psq=travel+8&_ss=e&_v=1.0

I’m also a fan of having a storage box or bags instead of internal storage, I’m also not in to sets that I can’t use on smaller tables. Hence why I’m looking for something unlike my tournament chess set. Thank you.

That's a nice set.

I have the World Chess Travel Set. 12 inch board. 3.1cm square 2.2 inch kings. Magnetised. 2 of my pawns had weak magnetic elements and they posted out replacements, no issue.

The set is very compact but still feels like a "real" chess set. It's great for travel or to bring out anywhere. You dont need much space but you can play a proper game of chess.

Pieces are stored in the board, casette style with a really good foam insert.

I also have a larger folding magnetic set from Regency. 14 inch board, 3 inch kings. It' a lovely set and perfect to leave out on a table without dominating. Library set really. It's good for travel too but there are situations where it is a little too big and that's where the World Chess Set shines (e.g. depending on what bag you are packing, the table space where you are going). Casette style storage with, again, and excellent insert. O

Oh and 4 queens with each set.

I highly recommend either one.
