I want suggestions for chess sets

So I want to buy a chess set, which will have: about 9-11 cm pieces made out of wood, with a chessboard or not, that costs about 80 dollars without a board and 110 with one and reasonable shipping prices for greece. If you have any suggestions, or share a link it would appreciated. (I'm not really fixed on the price and size so if you have something smaller or slightly more expensive please share as well) Thanks in advance!

Does Greece have a bad Amazon service?

antisunechess

Depends on the item. Sometimes the thing I order arrives in 2 days for super cheap, some others it is a lot of money with a reasonable arrival time, and there have been at least 5 times (all with non-amazon stores though) where the items never came. So yeah, I'm basically looking for something with no more than 10 euros shipping

1959 Russian Zagreb in Sheesham and Boxwood
The Reykjavik series in Sheesham and Boxwood
The New Columbian Staunton in Sheesham and Boxwood
But my preference would be this beautiful Dubrovnik Set,
1950 Dubrovnik in Stained Crimson and Boxwood.
You can find a range of pieces here, Offer Zone
For boards, you can buy from here
Walnut/Maple
Mahogany/Sycamore
Wenge/Sycamore
You can find a range of chessboards here, Polish Chess. But buy board square 55mm to 60mm.
Free shipping for both pieces and boards.

Not sure how interested you are in retro sets, but I collect and sometimes sell original Soviet chess pieces and boards. I have a couple of large weighted tournament sets which I'd be willing to let go for around that price. Let me know if you're interested and I'll send you some more details. They are from the 70's and 80's but are completely unused. Some of them still have their original box.

When in Greece...

I bought this board and pieces in Glyfada (Athens) at a chess tournament in 1988.  I guess I just find it funny that someone would be looking outside Greece for cheap wooden sets while I would look to Greece for cheap marble sets.

Thank you all for the suggestions! I have reviewed most of them by now. What I'm looking for is a standard set to play with, like Staunton. I just want something that feels and looks nice, without being too expensive. I think I have found a chess set that I will now buy. As for these marble sets, they are either super expensive here, or not suited at all for play. All my current chess sets are from greece, and those that are large are really distracting, or feel cheap and weird.

@btickler There are actually really cheap gold and marble sets with mythological designs, but all regular pieces are really rare and most are just imported with doubled prices. A set with a 3.5 inch king can cost 250 euros

So for that rosewood-boxwood set, I use walnut?

https://www.polishchess.com/size-no-6-with-notation-walnut-p-1096.html Will this board do for the pueces mentioned?

antisunechess

I know boards with notation aren't so stylish, but I will use it for analysis and opening theory mostly. The board you showed me is nice, it fits the pieces I mentioned right?

antisunechess

Size 6 is 60mm or 55mm?

KnightsForkCafe

You might want to watch this guy's review of the Fierce Knight set. His is 3.5 inches and the one from chess bazaar is 4 inches. So there wouldn't be much difference. I have heard that the Fierce Knight set doesn't get the size proportions correctly.

Alright! I think I will buy this combination, for 130 euros

What do you mean about the size proportions? And is this guy's review positive or not?
