thanks for the input ryan :)
input needed: Best tactics book for improvement
Hi I am looking to improve my chess with a tactics book. Which book did you find most helpful?
I have a 2700 Tactics trainer rating ... so my tactics are at least alright, so I wish to do more than easier books. Which books do you recommend?
thank you,
shuttlechess92
First of all a tactics rating means crap. Secondly get CT-Art 3 and go through the problems. Excellent software.

I've gotten up to 2750 on tactics trainer. Im going over "Forcing Chess Moves" by Charles Hertan right now, Im pretty sure it would benefit you as well. However a book that would for sure benefit you, and one I want to buy, is http://www.amazon.com/School-Chess-Excellence-Tactical-Play/dp/328300417X/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pd_T1?ie=UTF8&coliid=I21LXB7A7225LI&colid=1TXIIC98HTOFF School of Chess Excellence: Tactical Play by Mark Dvoretsky.

If you believe yourself in tactics, i would suggest John Nunn's puzzle book, Imagination in chess, Perfect your chess, Tactical Play by dvorestsky. I picked all of them from suggested books (i have seen them most) And i can gurantee you will have hard time solving these books. ( I know because before i gave up chess 2-3 years ago i had around 2600 rating in TT here but having hard time solving puzzles in these books. Actually i just looked on John's Puzzle book and i dont think i can calculate anything beyond the simplest ones)
I was about to forget but seen the book next to John Nunn's book, John Emm's The most amazing chess moves of all time is also excellent book as well. If you want a bit easier for start, i would advice Christian Kongsted's Beat the grandmasters.

Shuttlechess your rating is higher then most of the peple who are making suggestions, you would know better then most of us.
I don't know about you guys but when I do Tactics puzzles on tactics trainer I don't feel like I spot things as well as I do in games.

The cool thing is the possibility to review the exercises using spaced repetition. Things you get right you will see more rarely, the puzzles that you get wrong you have to repeat soon. With this system you will know all tactics.
If you are also looking for opening repertoires and endgames you will find very good stuff there. Recently a repertoire based on 1.e4 for white was released by Logozar, one of the best books I ever saw. Also the books by GM Colovic are great ( a complete repertoire against everything but 1.e4, based on the QGD).
By the way, they have a 30 days guarantee, so it is risk free. There is a video by John Bartholomew reviewing the book on tactics.
Good luck!
I wasn't making fun of you when I posted the request for a chess book, I really do have it. Just making sure you didn't take it the wrong way. If you want me to prove it, just look at my rating.
