*sigh* you either need a uci or winboard compatible software to load your engines in. Arena is good on windows, and I heard there was chessx or something for mac. Stockfish has an application with the download, though.
Uci engines are the most popular. If you plan on getting good engines like Komodo, Stockfish, Houdini, etc., don't look for winboard.
how to install them from WinZip archive file?
There is an 'Engines' folder somewhere in the root folder of every chessbase products.
- Unzip you archive in this folder
- Launch Fritz GUI
- Go to menu "Engine -> Create UCI Engine..."
- click on the "browse" button and choose the engine
The GUI will detect the name/ID/version of the engine as well as all the parameters
Then you can select the new engine instead of Fritz by pressing F3 and select in in the list

Here are some unofficial recent builds of ChessX and Stockfish for Macintosh computers. www.box.com/chessx
Is there any free download links to download any chess engines freely? If any, please share, thanks
