Ivory Set

I own a few items made from walrus ivory (not chess pieces) and it's a very strong material. Does not chip or scratch easily.

Thanks 4236. I was looking at some bovine chess set and it looks so fragile, good to know it's not.
I think at this point I would recommend against ivory things, even Mammoth ivory; it's just so expensive. As far as bone, that's a different story. My experience with it is it has a good feel and is quite light, but then so is a lot of wood. I have a couple bone staunton sets I wouldn't mine playing a game with, but it's hard to know what set in particular you're looking at. If something is carved very thin perhaps bone is stronger than a lot of woods but at some point it's not the kind of thing you want to play with too much.

Thanks for the information.
Good grief, the Mammoth ivory is way too expensive. When I say ivory, I mean bone in general. I was looking at the Official Staunton bovine set.
