Here are library pieces but in plastic and unweighted so they’re more affordable
House of Chess has some real affordable library sized sets. 3" - 3 1/4" range. They do have some 3.5" but I consider 3.5" to be in the club/tournament range and not library.
Here is House of Chess's 3" Popular Staunton chess set. The board is a 15" folding case/board I got off of Amazon. The set that came with the case/board I just threw away in the trash. It is those cheap wooden pieces that you will get from a wooden set from Walmart. I mainly wanted the board. It is a Walnut & Maple veneered board that fits just right for the set.

I too came to own a very nice board/box with 1.5" squares that deserved a nice set. I found it at Chess Bazaar in the form of their https://www.chessbazaar.com/the-collector-series-wooden-staunton-chess-pieces-in-sheesham-box-wood-2-6-king.html. I waited and pounced when a 30% store wide discount was offered last week and paid about $47 for the set. I'm delighted with it as the pieces are very stable, have a nice heft and feel. and the set looks great with the board. The big/small knight comparisons show a white knight from a full sized CB set I purchased some time ago.
@Gamegrunt nice little set. Ever thought about getting a bag to hold the pieces in? So that they are not loose and rattling around inside. This really helps from pieces rattling while traveling. Also you can pack in a DGT 960 clock.
What I plan to do is find a nice piece of foam that will hold the pieces in place. A bag is a nice option as well. It's highly unlikely that I would ever use this set with a clock, but it's good to know that a clock will fit in the compartment. Of course, there are some fine aps that will turn a cell phone into a chess clock as well. And one more thing: my wife has promised me that she'll employ her sewing skills and make a cloth bag to protect the chess set.

What the heck?!?
Oh, you are trying to compare the most expensive wood from HoS with the cheaper stuff from CB!
Yes, the actual price of the boxwood, Circa 1925 set is $149 full retail list which I always find discounts on. In fact when I bought mine, I recall paying something like $110 for it.
And yes, $110 is only a few dollars more than $92. And that is for a much higher quality product from HoS than the CB set.
I also own a CB set in that size and it's alright but not that nice.
And that is HOW I know this...
