I second the recommendation of Schandorff's book. Not as much explanation as Houska's book, but covers a broader range of lines. For instance, I recall that Houska largely ignores the advance variation (3. e5), and the related Short and Shirov variations which are covered in some depth in Schandorff.
Looking for a book on the Caro-Kann

Jovanka Houska's book "Play the Caro-Kann" is in-depth and effective most of the time.
My only objection to it is that at times the author is too eager to give out exclamation points (including book moves), and only gives illustrative games where white blunders.

on second thoughts teary maybe not the title I suggested, it is quite an old volume so improvements may have been found to lines in this book, unless of course this title has been updated since!

If you are looking for a Caro-Kann repertoire book, Houska's book is very good. However, by far the best book is Grandmaster Repertoire 7: Caro-Kann. It offers a solid repertoire with reliable analysis for players of all levels.

It is also quite old now, but I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on Jon Speelman's 1992 "New ideas in the Caro Kann Defense"?
Hello everybody! :D
I have recently started using the Caro-Kann a lot as black, but I want to get better at it.
Does anyone know of any good books dealing solely (or just mostly) with Caro-Kann lines?
