try looking on "thechessstore.com," and look at their diamond analog clocks. I heard they're pretty good. If you want comment and I can send you a link :)
Looking for an Analog Clock

yeah, i've seen there store. The BHB large tiltback is one in consideration... any other recos?

I've seen a lot of clocks in the chess section of Ebay. Sometimes older models show up in the listings. You mentioned that it will be a display piece more than anything so maybe something a little more distinctive than current models? Like an older soviet era Russian clock?

You probably can get the BHB clock including shipping from Europe cheaper. That and the Garde are the best mechanical wooden chess clocks in my opinion. Jerger clocks are hard to get by as new. There is one clock that looks exactly like Jerger but cannot remember know where I saw it.
There is BHB Spezial Exclusive that shows the last 5 minutes http://www.texma.pl/en/clocks/03.03.11-13,BHB_SPEZIAL_Exclusiv_chess_clock.html .
There is also the INSA from Serbia http://www.insa.rs/en/item/The-Insa-chess-clock-is-a-favorite-among-chess-players-with-unique-features-not-found-on-other-analog-clocks-in-the-same-price-range-View-Details/225 .
I used to prefer analog clocks too but the buttons don't hold up when playing speed chess, they only take so much rough slamming and then break. I went through 3 and finally went with a digital, problem solved.
INSA is by far best analog chess clock I have ever had. Garde up there as well if you can get older German models. Now they are producing Garde in China and quality is not the same.

I would recommend buying an old Garde or Jerger made in Germany from E-Bay. I bought a used Jerger made in Germany from E-Bay. Awesome clock. Real quality. Much better then the Rolland clock I have. BHB is okay, clock faces are small, the clock is not tilted back like my Jerger. It will suffice but not the quality of a Garde or a Jerger.
I only have one more clock to add to my collection and that is a Ruhla Garde. I recommend buying a used Garde clock from E-Bay. The new ones are made in China with cheap plastic parts. If you see the word classic on the clock faces, those are the ones that are made in China. The older ones were made with metal parts in Germany. It's nice that the Chinese manufacturers made the mistake of adding the word classic so we can differentiate between German made and Chinese made.

If anyone is looking to get an old Jerger, we have a couple of different ones in stock.
thanks,

How much for the old Jerger's? Fully functional?
BEBOPSAX,
I would not sell them any other way. Prices range from $100-$400. Just depends on which model and the shape they are in. I have some that are definitely tournament used and been in someone's bag for decades to one or 2 that I think were barely used.
What price range do you want to be in so we can get you something that fits?
Shelby

Any analog clocks for sale. Have been browsing ebay for a couple of days but nothing came up in my feed. I guess, you cannot beat the feel of an analog chess clocks whereas digital clocks are available dime a dozen.

I don't know if you're looking for vintage or new. I know that INSA still makes a new wooden analog clock for less than 100. dollars that works fantastically. HOS sells them for a hundred bucks but you can find them a little cheaper on ebay. Some of the ads say "battery required" but that's just nonsense. Sellers not knowing what they're selling. They wind up just like the vintage ones and run for more than 48 hours. I love mine. If however you are looking for vintage then that's an entirely different can of worms.

Strange, there are many analog clocks on Ebay. Both new and used. I just viewed several used Jerger's. Don't use the word analog in your search just chess clock.

The Garde at the top will be expensive because it is both digital and analog. Not many were made. There are others on Ebay that are in the 120 to 200 range after shipping depending on the condition. Make sure you don't get the Garde clock that says classic on the clock faces. Those were not made in Germany. They were made in China and have cheap plastic parts.
What analog clocks would you recommend?
I am looking for a functional and reliable wind up (no battery) analog clock. Wood casing and nice looks are essential as it will be a display piece more than anything. I intend to use it for friendly unrated games. I would consider both a blitz analog or a slower model (or both if I can spare the $). Some older posts recommend Jerger, but I haven't seen many out there. BHB makes a few models, are these any good?
Thanks for your help.
Matt
PS - I have a DGT North American for tournament play, the analog would just be for fun. I guess I am just old-fashioned.
