Hi All,

Im looking for advice on the best all around book to improve my tactics and expand opening knowledge.  Something I can take on the sunway and dive into.  Not a kindle book!  Just something I can pick up and read about 25 minutes a day.  puzzles..openings.. tactics..  Can anyone suggest something for me?  Have a great day and thanks!

Test Your Positional Play by Bellin & Ponzetto

Don't let the title fool you. It a good "training" book. You will reach a certain point in the opening and then you must select the correct plan out of 3 choices and you must work out all the tactics of those 3 choices. In a sense, it will help you follow the proper plan when the opening phase is complete. The position comes from all types of openings, so you cam cover a broad range of positions.

I would say that Dvoretsky would be too hard for you.  His books are designed for 2000+FIDE ratings.  Mastering Tactical Ideas by Minev might be a good book for you.
