Very intresting analysis! I'm writing this as I'm looking thought out the moves, and I'm very surprised with Maia analysis, because one: it analyzed somewhat like me, which I guess makes sense, and because two: it analysed moves way more based on "Chess principles" than the current position, which is of course wrong, but very usefull! I also fall in the category of using chess principles more than the board position (This explain why I didn't find 7.Nxe5)
Something that I found really intresting, is that Maia kind of has fear, it says that 11.0-0 is a mistake, which is not, so the bot is somewhat afraid of the g4, h5 and f3 pawns coming to attack the king, and during the game I was also afraid of it. Other moves also need attention 12.Nxd5 which is a blunder and I blundered it back, intresting that Maia said 13.Ng6! which during the blitz game, was my exact thought, even thought it's just a blunder.
My conclusion: Maia makes human like analyses something that stockfish can't, but just like us, the human analyses are bad, but using it together with stockfish fixes it, and it allows you to understand more about your own mistakes, IMO most of the time I use stockfish to analyze my games, I find it hard to know what will my opponents do and what Stockfish tells me, so I could use Maia to predict my opponents move and Stockfish to know how to punish them!
TLDR: Maia bot is bad like us, but it's like a chess partner for those who have 0 friends
Much like Stockfish has completly changed how we play chess, h4 and a4 ideas weren't that common when Karpov vs Kasparov played, but Magnus vs Hikaru it's more way more common. And Maia can do something that Stockfish can't, which is predict what moves each person can make, so Maia can play like a 1100s on Lichess: https://lichess.org/@/maia1
What that means, is if you are an 1100s you can use Maia to analyze your games, so whenever Stockfish recomends you to play a certain line that you are sure no one would ever play, you can just use Maia and it will tell what your opponents are more likely to play.
No more "The missed wins Stockfish tells me..."
But not everything is perfect, I tried setup Maia and I find it to be quite complicated, since I have little to no experience with coding, and their guide is quite confusing to someone who has never done that before, but maybe you are smarter than me (70% chance you are smarter than me) and I belive you should check it out: https://github.com/CSSLab/maia-chess?tab=readme-ov-file
Also, has anyone here tried using Maia to analyze their games? and how did you setup Maia? And could you import your games so Maia can play like you? Please answer any of these question if you have the time
