an excellent all round book. I've got it.

Is it suitable for low level players?

Looks like it's well worth the $ (used), from looking over the reviews and comments here. I'd buy it, IF I didn't aleady own a few dozen other unread chess books.

Someone at amazon is selling a new one for $200.00 - WTF?? This strikes me as so bizarre I just had to throw it in.

kco

yep, is suitable for all level. Is a very general infomation type.

Thanks all.

Does anyone know if it translates into a good ebook? The nook version is $9.80

I don't know, but the actual book I ordered is $7.95.

What I sent for is CHESS: Tactics and Strategy. Published in paperback as The Mammoth book of Chess.

Yeah, I've read it. I have it on my Kindle.

Ryan, (or anyone else with it on a Kindle) Is this book easy to read and follow along with on the Kindle?  I have the older keyboard Kindle, not the fancy color touchscreen one.

RyanGarner

I have the very first Kindle, without the keyboard, and it is very easy to follow. Very detailed, and very good for the beginner/ learner. That book is where I learnt a bunch of my tactics from. If you would like, I can set up a series of unrated games, and "coach" you.

Menamow

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it.  Thank you also for the coaching offer, though I'll pass.  I have too many games now, and that's not what I'm looking for quite yet.

Okay, if you ever need anything, just ask! :)

I think you’re mixing up the Mammoth Book of Chess with the Mammoth Book of the World’s Best Chess Games.
