Hey guys. I was having a look at an old book I found a few days ago called Modern Chess Strategy by Ludek Pachman. It looked interesting, and I was surprised to find out how much information it contained. Nimzowitsch's My System may be a classic, but this book seems to talk about even more than My System did! Naturally, I was puzzeled as to the low price of the book (10 bucks or so on Amazon) until I realized that it was in descriptive notation.
I had never read descriptive notation before in my life, but I researched a little and found that I could just struggle along with the cumbersome reading. Algebraic notation flows much more easily for me, and I was wondering if this handicap will prevent me from learning a lot from this book. If you have read this book before, please tell me how it worked out for you; and also if it compares well to My System.
