New wood grain Mouse Pad chess boards

Hey all,

I am so happy with how our wood grain mousepad chess boards came out I am looking for your recommendations on new combinations I should put out.

Finding wicked patterns for the dark wood is easy.  It is finding a white square color that goes with it that's a pain.

Any help would be appreciated.  Get me a cool one that I want to print and I might even let you help me name it!

thanks

guardianx9, you need to get a grip.

Shelby is only asking what we want as chess boards.

You have said, many, many times how the silicone board is the best.  You like how lightweight it is and that is will not wrinkle or crease.  You have not agreed that the stickiness of the board with pieces on it is a problem.

Well, these thin, mousepad boards give everything you like in a silicone board and a lot more.

Not only is the board wrinkle free and light, but the pieces slide nicely on it as the top is all polyester, smooth.

The board first showed from Glen Butterman, who has passed away this past January, R.I.P.

Glen started with the various wood grain finishes.  I convinced him to come out with the green, which he did.

Then, as Glen slowed down in producing these boards, Shelby came out with his version of the boards.  And the ones he produced are excellent.

Since then Raphael, of the Chess House, came out with his version but only in green.

Now, Shelby is giving us the opportunity to get boards of the color and pattern design that we would like best with different Chess pieces and woods.

He is doing us a service, not the other way around.

Dude, you are really wrong in this.  You really should stop before you go too far showing yourself the jerk.

I understand you do not want to spend any money on any chess stuff.  Yes, that is called cheap.

All the guy is doing is asking what we want so he can have it made.  I don't see anyone other than Carl doing this.

And the end result is we get the products we want that never existed before.  But being a cheap ass, you are ignorant to all this nicety.

And how much are these boards? The answer is well under $20.  So get real and quit attacking.

Best to completely ignore those who have nothing positive to contribute. They are looking to evoke responses in order to continue defecating their negativity. Without the attention of others to feed on, like weeds deprived of water they will eventually dry up and blow away.

Walnut burl is awesome plus white wood gets my vote.

This looks like advertising to me. Isn't that against forum rules unless you have chess.com permission to advertise ?

They are all nice. I like the very last one in particular. My only concern would be if a burl is too strong or pronounced (too 'burly'?), it could be distracting. Can more subtle burls be created?

I think postage to Scotland would be prohibitive in my case, but I'd certainly buy a couple if I was stateside. Nice work, and best of luck with it.

All i did was compliment the man on how smart he is on not paying a dime for design ideas n profit .. u do know alot of company have to pay alot for design and concept.  then everyone in the crowd gets angry lol..he even said he profit so much he even throw some money back at some random chess event to get the hey look im a nice guy pts . which is another nice move.. indeed a !! Move..

And yes this is advertisement... On pre made product creating a want for his product. He is a smart man

Let's ignore the trolls, I agree.

With that I want two of the wood combinations above in chess boards.

First I want the Walnut Burl and Light Oak combination that will work fabulously with my Noj sets that have European Walnut for the dark pieces and European Maple for the light.  And also with this board will be the Sheesham or Golden Rosewood sets, wonderful.

Then I want the Wicked or Red burl with the Light Oak as a board.  With this combination my Rosewood and Noj Red sets will work, yes perfectly.

I'll post pictures when I get my boards in.  Oh wait, they're not produced just yet, are they?!?

Shelby -

I like the dark rosewood and oak combination shown in the first photo of your post #13.

Remember - a troll will eventually disappear if they get no responses.  The solution is to completely ignore them.

You have good tastes Shelby but, I would like to see the full board with pieces on it first. Its going to be tough to beat the ubiquitous green & white board IMO.

Eyechess

Yes, we in the USA have the green and buff/white board the standard for non-wood boards.

However, I just received this design (that Shelby and his company paid to have made) sent me on the color combinations I messaged him I thought would be best of the wood grains.

Above is the Walnut Burl for the dark squares.

This is what Shelby called the Wild Burl for the dark squares.

I have gone ahead and ordered a number of each board when they are made.
