Can you imagine Montgomery Ward in 1916 selling genuine "bone" pieces?!!

One of the advertisements shows the rooks and bishops on the wrong squares! I leave you to find which one it is . . .

The ads from 1850 are wild. Would it be Safe to assume those 1800s pieces look like the ones on the earliest illustrated ads for chessmen?

Thank you @BobbyStaunton for your post and to @Walterbiensur for reminding me of this thread. I was fortunate recently to pick up this set advertised in 1929. Along with the lovely dogface knights of the time, the kings finial is rather distinctive too.
