The ads from 1850 are wild. Would it be Safe to assume those 1800s pieces look like the ones on the earliest illustrated ads for chessmen?

Thank you @BobbyStaunton for your post and to @Walterbiensur for reminding me of this thread. I was fortunate recently to pick up this set advertised in 1929. Along with the lovely dogface knights of the time, the kings finial is rather distinctive too.
