Nice looking set and great service from WSC. $49.99 you can't go wrong. Enjoy.
One of my newest -Reykjavik Chess Pieces from Wholesale Chess

Thanks for the review!
I have a similar set and was looking for a board to go along with it. Was wondering about that board from Amazon. That looks good too.
Thanks for the review. I agree with you about the rooks. They need to be stouter. Their stems are currently just too puny looking. But still a lovely looking set, expecially for the price point.
Is this the exact set sold by Chess Bazaar? If not which is better quality?

I doubt if they buy their sets from CB but if you ask them online they will tell you first hand. Have had many dealings with WSC and find them to be excellent on service and if anything is defective they do not hesitate to replace. Have had no problems on the quality of their products over the years.

Main problem with Reykjavic chess set specially the ones made by Chessbazaar is that the turrets of the rooks break easily as they are made thin. Apart from turrets breakage which is so annoying in the jaws of the knights in other chess sets specially the luxury range. The mouths of most the knights are made open to give them a more realistic look but this makes them so brittle and fragile that they break with slight pressure specially after the wood becomes more dry. Broken knights jaws/mouths are among the most common problems after hairline cracks in ebony and padauk.
Never had this problem. Do you have any pics to show us?

Of course he doesn't have pictures. He's already proven himself to be a pathological liar.
I have been coming to this forum for well over three years. Both the breaking of the Knight jaw and this Rook crenellations being too thin have never been on here before.
And everything else that could possibly be wrong with a Chess set has been talked about here.
Yes, unless this guy shows pictures, which I would bet money that he never will, he must be making it all up or greatly exaggerating at best.
I'm just looking for the natural wood black pieces version of the Chessbazaar set in this video. The Wholesale Chess version looks similar but the knights might be different.

Is there no way on this Forum to block posts from this argumentative Doofus? And the other morons like him? A simple "ignore" button on his profile page would be greatly appreciated by many.

Thankfully I have located this fine feature and will never read his utter nonsense again. Until he creates another account under a new name, like he has done countless times before. "737idiot" or whatever the hell it was. Good riddance.
The reason why chessbazaar copy of Reyiavik set has not been successful is because they use pictures from google for imitating the chess sets rather than using genuine and original chess sets. The original Reyjavik set is so different from Chessbazaar copy. House of Staunton sells the Reyjavik copy as well which is better in quality. Besides, Chessbazaar’s version is too expensive given the fact that on ebay some retailers are selling them for $40 with free shipment.
The Youtube video I posted isn't from Google Images. Its a video. The set looks great. I was just wondering where to get the sheesham black piece version.

Yes you can block him/her and never see another post from him/her. Go to HOME/SETTINGS/BLOCKING. After that just type in the user name and click BLOCK.
Some of the stuff he/she types is just false. I had a couple complaints about CB a while back but that was the bleeding of the red pieces that were not sealed. BUT they do not steal their pictures from anyone else. Those are all from their sets. So please do not make up FALSE FACTS. Last set I bought from CB was a Russian set and it was done just right and the people at the chess club thought it was well done. You also knock OS which makes me wonder who you are. I never had a cracked piece, damaged piece, or anything else damaged from OS. I find that the people who run Official Staunton to be honest and truthful.
And why are you ashamed to put down your country of origin? It sure isn't the USA. IS it even Great Britain which you had for a couple days when you first came on? Maybe it should be India? You do use an icon that represents India. Maybe you are a manufacturer who CB or OS no longer buys from you?

Here are some pics and a review of one of my new sets. It is this set:
Reykjavik Chess Pieces -http://www.wholesalechess.com/shop/chess-pieces/wood-chess-pieces/reykjavik-chess-pieces
The pics are on my mahogany and sycamore board from Amazon. I think the set look very good on this board.
My review with pics interspersed (this same review will be posted at Wholesale Chess):
Ordered this set as part of an order from the Labor Day sale, $49.99 (normally $89.99).
Shipping - as usual, shipping was prompt and delivered when promised. Wholesale Chess always does a good job.
Packaging - This set came in 2 boxes, all pieces individually wrapped. Very well packaged and all pieces arrived undamaged. Again, have never had an issue with that with Wholesale Chess.
Chess set - This is a very nice set. The pieces look very nice. The bases are a good width, the felt (real felt) on the bottom are cut well, nice circles that fit well.
The Rooks have nice deep parapets, the wood itself on the parapets is a little thin - definitely no blitz chess with this set. The body of the Rooks are a little thinner than I like, I like strong, stout Rooks.
The Knights are good looking Knights, with their heads held high. They do have the blank eyes that look like zombie eyes but other than that they look good.
The Bishops have the bulb top with a deep, wide mitre cut in it. Very good looking Bishops.
The royal couple also look very good. Her majesty's crown is well defined, the King stands tall and there is no mistaking who is the most important piece on the board.
The pawns are all uniform and provide a good army of foot soldiers for his majesty.
The ebonizing is quite black, it actually looks more like a black lacquer. All pieces are good and shiny, a good finish on them.
The one drawback I have is the color of the white Queen. It looks like this Queen is from a different batch of wood. It is a couple shades lighter over the entire piece. Not a huge deal but prevents it from getting 5 stars (really only worth a half a star but can't do half stars).
The set itself feels very good. looks very nice on my mahogany and sycamore board (2-1/4 squares). The colors look great together, good contrast (many thanks to all those who gave suggestion on boards, I actually had this one at home already). Playing with it (I have already played one game with it, although I lost so it did not help my game :( ) feels very good. The pieces feel good in your hand, the weight is about right, not too heavy, not too light.
Overall, a very nice set. I am pleased with it, and considering I paid $49.99 I am VERY pleased with it.
Hope you enjoyed the review, sorry for the pics. I used my phone, not a regular camera.
