Good question, I have no idea
Thanks for the video link Mike.! I had no idea that they played on a folding board with those pieces. It looks like the town is full of American Tourists.
Thanks Mike for the great video....I believe Maple was used for the white pieces and Chestnut for the brown.
Really enjoyed the vids Mike , thanks ! Its nice to know that I am not the only one who loves this game !

Hi Frank, They played on chess tables. Pictured is Sammy Reshevsky playing Svetozar Gligoric during the 1950 Dubrovnik Olympiad.

Hi Bobby, I think the dark pieces were stained in brown.
And here is their game from Dubrovnik : http://www.chessgames.com/perl/chessgame?gid=1152586

Thanks Reb, the game score adds charm to the picture!
Nice posts, Mike. I can't help thinking how nice it would be to have a folding set like that to take down to the local cafe for a game or two. :-)

I wonder how much an original Dubrovie set would set one back ? They only made a few of those right ? I guess the originals are scattered across the world now ?
I would guess they would sell for around the same price as an original Jaques set if you could find one. Fischer/Spassky 1992 used an original owned by the Arbiter I think.? It is really sad that some of them might be sitting in an attic in South America or Europe.
I am just guessing an original Dubrovnik set is scarcer than an original Jaques set even though it is 100 years newer. The numbers just aren't there and I bet hardly any surviving sets. What would it sell for if it came on the market? Your guess is as good as mine.
Maybe someone could chime in and site articles on exactly what set or sets the 1992 match was played with.
Here are links to the wonderful Youtube videos on the original 1950 Dubrovnik Chess Set.
