Plastic Legend Tournament Alegria Staunton Chess and Carrying Bag

I have noticed other people who sell Plastic Sets so here is the one I have been making and selling for the last 20 years. A 4" King with a very impressive Knight, extra queens, set weight is 3.92 lbs.  Sets are available in Natural & Black and Ivory and Black. Of course I am bias but the Knight is the nicest out there in my opinion.

I remember that website 20 years ago. You used to sell Dual Timer chess clocks. The looked like nice pieces then. I just checked out your website again they still look like really nice pieces.

They are very nice sets and I do personally quality control and package each set providing extra protection to the queens and kinghts before shipping

I have this set, nicest plastic set I have come across.

TundraMike

I too have that set I have to admit it is probably the nicest plastic set I have.  Do you have the Legend scorebooks left?  I see you have at your web site buy 2 for $5.95 + $3 shipping.  I would buy 4 of them and pay a bit more for shipping. If I remember right these were designed by David Weinstock and would very much enjoy them.

I don' have any at this time check with David at chessmate.com

I'd love to see red as a color option (for the Alegria, not the scorebooks ;-)  Any hope?

Dennis_Petersen

I had thought about maybe a blood red how would that strike you.

TundraMike

I would invite that especially if you could buy the blood red set separate if you already have the set pictured above. That is the best plastic set I own.

Dennis_Petersen

So you would just like to purchase the red pieces is that it. A novel idea perhaps a smaller storage bag just the size of half the set.  At what price range.

TundraMike

Or if that is not doable Dennis I would not be opposed to a full set. I know you have to meet minimums etc. and that it gets very expensive to carry the inventory. You do have a winner in that design. Also, your service was excellent when I bought the set off of eBay from you. Had not one problem.

I ordered one of these sets the other day and it arrived, from Dennis, in today's mail which I put in the house over my lunch hour.

When the board and carrying tube arrive, I will take it all to one of our upcoming rapid or speed Monday evening events, take pictures and post a review on this forum.

So far, the set looks excellent.  It's heavy as well.

I would also buy a set with the red pieces.  And I would actually prefer the complete set and not only a half set.

TundraMike

When I think about it now so the set wears evenly I guess I would also prefer the full set.  Not a game changer at all. Have no idea how many sets you have to order but if you get a list from here and send invoices via Paypal that may help in the cost for you.

I would really like to buy this set, but I don't like the bishops design. It would be a perfect set, in my opinion, if bishops looked like the ones from the Colllector series. And yeah, red is a wonderful colour for chess pieces.

I love the Alegria set!  The King's Indian is better for blitz but the Alegria is nonetheless a great, plastic set.

What's the correct pronunciation?  I'm guessing Al-uh-GREE-uh.

Wow, quite a response!  Maybe for completeness add red/white and red/natural complete sets to the current black/white and black/natural.  I can't pretend to understand pricing but a red half-set at 60-70% of the full-set price would be fine with me.

I really like the Kings Indian I think it’s called. The one with the knights looking down. A natural or ivory and red set would be nice.
Johnny_Gumshoe
Actually I just reread your web page it seems it comes in white and red already. Now I got to figure how to persuade my wife that the set is really needed.
Dennis_Petersen

The red Kings Indian didn't last long the red in that production wasn't my favorite red needed to be darker I liked the darker red in some of the old Lowe sets from the 1950's

Alegria is pronounced Alllll-aaaah-greeeeeee-aah.  It is a french word with possibly Canadian influence implying a happy place. I use it implying take your game to a happy place happy.png
