I assume you have the ChessLink appliance? Or were you planning to plug the USB cable to your phone or tablet just like the Chess for Android demo last year?

I've got the Millennium Chess Genius Exclusive and I've just tried the app but cannot manage to get the board detected by the Chesslink app... has anybody else succeeded ?

Did You pair the chesslink module to your phone via Bluetooth?

havb1961

No, I haven't been able to do that. My phone lists the Millennium device (the chesslink I guess) from a previous pairing  (when I used it with chess for android) as "saved", but the chesslink app doesn't seem to find it. The Millennium device in my bluetooth device list remains unchanged. I had a look at chesslink app permissions and the like in my phone, but no luck yet. I'm kind of puzzled.

I recommend you delete the old pairings and redo them.
also if you have another android device, it would help to see if the app can see the Bluetooth pairing on that.

Thanks a lot for your feedback, I'll try that

I'm having the same connectivity problem with my CGE. I tried new BT pairings, restarted my phone, un/re-installing the app, and updating the clock firmware. Nothing helped, it still wont connect. HIARCHS on my iPad has no problems.

Hopefully this can get resolved, because I like the idea of the feature, especially if we could play here on Chess.com someday.

Unfortunately, it did not work.... as some other people have the same issue, hopefully, a fix will come up soon

I get different results using a different devices. My phone running Android version 10 can’t connect to the board, but my tablet running Android ver. 6 sees the board, but won’t stay logged on more than a minute.

Good news. Right from the Hiarcs Chess forum, here it is:

An updated App version 1.0.1 is now available in the Playstore, which should hopefully work with most Android devices.

Important: Please make sure that you must have the rights to use your location activated in your mobile device (both in general and in the App itself). Without such right the App will not be able to find the ChessLink via BLE.

It does work !

I hope you have better luck than me. I updated the app, and it now sees my board, but it still won't stay logged in, so I can't play.  Frustrating.

I suggest that you go into their web page https://computerchess.com/en/chesslink-app-2/ and report the bug. They replied to me just this morning with the same answer I found in the Hiarcs forum.

The update fixed the BT problem, but tha app doesn't stay connected to the website we can't mention.

havb1961

That's what I actually meant, you might wish to report the bug that cannot keep the board logged in. I think it is worth giving it a try, they seem to have good user support.

Boydcarts

I did submit bug report but I had to use the website because whenever I tried to use the "feedback" feature on the app, the app would crash. I hope they can get this working because I think it's a great feature and adds a lot of value to their product line. And I do give Millennium credit for exploring new things.

I just finished my first game, and I really enjoyed the experience.  It felt very natural, and definitely different from playing against a computer.  My latest problems had to to with API tokens, but whatever it was, it's cleared up now.  Now we just need to get play enabled on Chess.com!

On a Millennium Chess Genius Exclusive, with Chesslink, and all updated, connected by bluetooth with my Oneplus 6 (Android10) : connexion ok with Chesslink app, i can see movements on the chess board and app, but doesn't work whit an oppenent on Lichess ! i'll re-test

I was unlucky enough to choose to buy Millennium Supreme Tournament 55 board and ChessLink module (paying almost 1k euros). The board is buggy when I play on Lichess using Millennium official app, it stops highlighting opponent moves in the middle of the game very often, only restarting the app helps. But worst of all is that support is non existent, when I described the problem to them they asked to send them the proof of purchase, and when I did they just said that I should contact the seller. They literally ignored all my further questions. What the seller can do if it’s a bug in the app? I’d just loose time and money by sending the board from UK back to Germany (I bought the board at https://www.niggemann.com/). If Millennium support just told me that they don’t believe that it’s a software bug and not a faulty ChessLink, I’d consider sending the board back for repair, but they don’t care to do even that simple thing, like I said they are just ignore my questions. I’ll never buy anything made by Millennium again, and it seems they don’t care.
