Does anybody now where you can get a ponziani opening book because i've looked on ebay, amazon and I can't find one anywhere that "is out!"

This is the ponziani:

It seems unlikely any books on the ponziani will be good, given just how dubious it is as an opening.  Half the ...d4 lines are just plain lost for white, and the other half grab a pawn but give black all the initiative and pressure.  While this may matter little in practical play, I'd think it makes it rather hard to write a good book about it.  Given how tactical it is, and how it seems to be fairly limited in terms of variations, I'd imagine you'd have more luck finding information on it in a more general 'open games' type book rather than a book solely about the ponziani.  Just a thought, and I could easily be wrong.  Smile

Thankyou very much both of you and I will take your advice steven

I've just queried my Chessbase, and it seems the Ponziani was used with success by Ljubojevic. His overall record with the opening is a respectable 5.5/8, but more importantly, this is the record against very strong opponents: Geller, Ree, Karpov, Anand...

Velimirovic is more of a devotee, with 16.5/25. Slightly weaker opposition, but still mostly over 2400 ELO.

Haven't had a review from my friend on the book's quality as yet but if it was rubbish he would have said by now! I can see it's not available on Amazon but I'm sure you'll find it somewhere
