It was also a nightmare to get the right pieces back in the right place in the box lol
£1 ($1.20) Chess set Lord of Rings.

Perhaps they're not practical, but I love the idea, I'm a big Lord of the Rings fan
Incredible catch for just £1

Playing a game with my brother recently - using a LoTR set. Very confusing - but kind of fun - albeit we had to check with each other on what each piece was before nearly every move!!
I got gifted a very similar set around 20 years ago, it’s still at my childhood home somewhere! Not practical but the pieces were well made and heavy like yo said!

It’s funny, I have few wooden Staunton sets in boxwood. They’re gorgeous but I think I prefer the plastic DGT set. Just wish the black pieces were black instead of dark blue-grey, Reminds me of bin bags. ;o)
I was thinking about it the other day, I think the visual impact of a set can alter the way you play and see the game and it shouldn’t. I tend not to do well on my DGT Pegasus. Not sure if it’s a size thing, ahem.
Got this from a charity shop for £1. Ive got a lot of chess sets from charity shops and what the americans call Thrift Stores (I think). I collect stamps so every now and then I go for a browse around them. Its pretty heavy, made from a kinda of resin. I couldnt play with this, I dont like the pieces at all from a practical point.
