For those playing on chess.com live, how do you see the clock? Do you have to have a screen up or is there a way to see the time and be fully on board online while playing live?

The board has no screen. So you see the clock on whatever software you are using (e.g. the chess.com mobile app).

Which is the same in strict OTB if you think about it (the clock is on a screen there too).

Is there a way to make the screen only the clock? Or has to show the board and time on the sides?

I kind of doubt it. That is a feature you would need to request from the developer of the app.

Most of the ones I've used the clock is large enough so I can see it even without the screen in front of my face. And I like to have the board available on the software screen in case there is an issue with the physical board.

I recently purchased the Supreme 55 and it works great with the chess.com android app.

Has anyone figured out a good way to handle playing either white or black when the game starts?  I'm currently switching chairs at my table, as rotating the board is a bit hard with the power cord.  I haven't tried setting up the pieces after the game starts, figured the game would time out.

How are you dealing with this?

In case anyone is interested, Millennium has released their new standalone chess engine line called Mephisto Phoenix. The module can be used with the Supreme Tournament 55 chess set, but the new Mephisto-branded board comes in Rosewood. Just something to consider.

It is offensively overpriced.

I have a the board on a standing desk so I can easily go to either side.

It should be noted in this context that you cannot play a rated game and choose the color in advance (which makes playing a predetermined tournament game impossible). This is a (ridiculously unnecessary) limitation of the chess.com Android app and not the board.

Another extreme annoyance of the chess.com Android app is the inability to play a game with more than 60 minutes per side (a completely avoidable issue, that doesn't exist on the web interface, that would be fixed if chess.com cared at all about making an app that wasn't annoying and inadequate).

For these reasons, I play most games with the board on Lichess.

if I were to get this board, what else besides the board and pieces do I need to make it work?

Kinda interested and looks like fun

1. A Lichess account. I wouldn't bother playing with it on chess.com. See my previous messages.

2. An android phone or tablet so you can run the ChessLink app and play games with online opponents. I use an Android tablet and it works well because it is a bigger screen than a phone and I can see the clocks better. IOS might work but I don't have experience with that with this board.

To play online on either chess.com or Lichess you need the "chesslink" bluetooth device. https://www.chesshouse.com/products/millennium-chesslink

You also need the app on an android phone or tablet.

Boydcarts
The native Millennium app, and the White Pawn app are also available on iOS.

Now available from chess.co.uk but seems very expensive at £995 just for the board and pieces.

looking at the pics above I’m not convinced about the white squares, are those black lines acceptable on a board of that cost ? at least the new module is now available with 2 engines built in.

Pics make very slight black lines way more noticeable in pic than real life. Remember this is real wood!

Ordering direct from Millenium the price they charge is €799 minus the import duty. So to buy direct (including your import charges which you pay to customs) and delivery is approx £700.

Definitely a better experience all round than DGT in my opinion.

How have you found the board in use over time? Considering a DGT set but wondering about one of these instead. Feels like it comes down to on board LEDs v all the extra wires and black boxes to use it.

Hi Philip,

I was in exactly the same position at you about a year ago, debating between these two boards.

I initially bought the DGT smart board with a set of wooden pieces. It worked well with Lichess, but was basically unusable with chess.com. The main problem was that it would make "ghost moves" ... I wouldn't touch any piece on the board and chess.com would make a move. Fortunately, another chess.com member Hyper-Dragon has developed some software that solves this problem. My DGT board now works great on chess.com with his DGT angel software. https://www.chess.com/clubs/forum/view/dgt-angel-initial-public-release Play on the DGT board to me is a bit more difficult because you have to hear the moves an make them on the board vs seeing them with LEDs. It's easier to make a mistake on an opponent move and get things confused. But, DGT angel addresses that problem. It will announce an incorrect move and prompt you to fix it. Also, I find playing with the DGT board a bit more clunky with wires and stuff since I need my laptop to run chess.com, with wires running to the laptop.

When the DGT board was not working with chess.com I tried the Millennium supreme 55. Setup with chess.com was really easy, and it just worked. Play on the board is very natural, and the integrated LEDs on the board are great. I was very happy with this set up. However, I've had th set since October, and I've had issues with three of my pieces failing to be recognized by the board. I bought the set from chesshouse.com, and they have provided excellent customer service replacing the pieces for free. But, this is very frustrating and I expect I will have more failures like this. In talking to the reps at chesshouse, they tell me this quality control issue is not common with the supreme 55, so maybe I just got a lemon.

Thanks CFossa for the advice. I'd been looking at eBay etc for one of these so that makes me think a bit more. A new board with warranty would be much safer. Not many dealers in the UK for either and Brexit has made buying from Germany more complicated.

Chessnewto92

I've bought the Millennium Supreme Tournament 55 board and can't play against bots on chess.com, but i've seen that people can play against bots using Chessnut boards. I've installed the beta version too, but it still doesn t work... Can someone help? Ty!
