I'm not sure what's so fantastic about it.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
I like it too!
You're probably right about it being a Rechapados Ferrer board.. I think they are excellent quality and great value for money (they also make the boards for DGT). I have two myself, one with 55mm squares which I now mostly use Chessbazaar's 3.6" Dubrovnik v2 pieces for (also have RCM's Craftsman series pieces for it) and a smaller one with 45mm (not 40mm) squares which came with the Competition Staunton Walnut Chess Set from Regency Chess. Both boards I have are the walnut colour.
Cheers,
Toby
PS! The difference between a "Economic" and "Standard" Rechapados Ferrer board is just packaging... former just comes in a plastic bag, the latter comes boxed. The boards are the same and have the edge only half the width of the squares. Their "Deluxe" boards are made with the exact same materials and to the same standards... just a wider edge, which is as wide as the squares are (the DGT boards are Rechapados Ferrer Deluxe boards which have the electronics built into them).
Hello all. As mentioned in another thread, I'd love to see a chess.com article about the various chess boards and piece sets on display throughout the series. In particular, I thought the compact Mexico City board upon which Beth played young Georgi Girev in episode 4 looked fantastic.
Any ideas if/where this might be available? Thanks!
