Hi all!

What do you think about the group of books under the name of "Chess Classics" published by Quality Chess? Books like "The Soviet Chess Primer" by Ilya Maizelis, "The Soviet Middlegame Technique" by Peter Romanovsky, "Soviet Chess Strategy" by Alexey Suetin, and "Python Strategy" by Tigran Petrosian?

Thanks for your help.

About this one, I think the most important thing to know is:

"The title might suggest it is for beginners, but that is not the case. It does start off with some basic positions, but quickly moves on to much more advanced material including chapters on positional play and techniques of calculation." - IM John Donaldson

I suspect that this book is similar to Petrosian's Legacy.

I recently purchased "The Soviet Chess Primer" by Ilya Maizelis back in December.  I am still working my way through it, slowly mind you but I have found it one of the better books I have bought.  He is a very interesting writer and has broken the game into pieces unlike most other authors I have experienced.  There are other reviews on the web about this book you may find of value.
