Has anyone bought this software?:

What did you think of it? Thanks.

I don't know if you noticed, but there is a demo version that can be downloaded.

I enjoyed the "planning mate" exercize in the demo where squares are marked with crosses and you have to put the selected pieces on them to construct a mate.

Yeah, I've tried the demo. I wanted to know if anyone had the full product...

I also found the demo had some very original features, like the "planning mate" you mention, the "planning route" exercises and the "knights with coins" exercises.

I may consider buying the full version based on what I've seen in the demo. It isn't that expensive.

In a way it's kind of basic, but practicing basics until you have them down cold is one way of improving your game.

Btw, since you mentioned the knight/coin exercize, you might try this chess variant at yahoo games. You have a knight that you race around the board as fast as you can to stop a flood of pawns comming down the board against you.

In an e-mail to the developer, I just received this further information about the program:

"Thanks for your interest in the Chess Tutor. At this moment we are working on Step 2, which is scheduled for end of this year. We are planning Step 3 for 2010 with the other steps following."

SisyphusOfChess

That's cool. So I would assume steps 2 and 3 will be more advanced.

But, you're right, the program has some interesting features. That's always a nice way to get a fresh perspective.
