I don't know if you noticed, but there is a demo version that can be downloaded.

I enjoyed the "planning mate" exercize in the demo where squares are marked with crosses and you have to put the selected pieces on them to construct a mate.

Yeah, I've tried the demo. I wanted to know if anyone had the full product...
I also found the demo had some very original features, like the "planning mate" you mention, the "planning route" exercises and the "knights with coins" exercises.

I may consider buying the full version based on what I've seen in the demo. It isn't that expensive.
In a way it's kind of basic, but practicing basics until you have them down cold is one way of improving your game.
Btw, since you mentioned the knight/coin exercize, you might try this chess variant at yahoo games. You have a knight that you race around the board as fast as you can to stop a flood of pawns comming down the board against you.
