Bro, I would recommend walnut & maple all the way. Especially for Dubrovnik set.
It seems like your set already stands on walnut board... why are you looking for another one?

Oh, I guess the square size, right? Definitely get 2.25”. I would also recomend a drueke style. Here’s how my sheesham Dubrovnik looks on walnut drueke:
And here’s a CB fierce knight on it:
My Drueke is a 1.75" board, too small for a set where the king base is 1.6.
I picked out a maple and rosewood board, 2" squares. That will be the new home for this set. Thanks to the patience and experience of the great crew at Your Move Chess and Games (my local chess store, just a couple of miles from my house) www.chessusa.com. they let me try a couple dozen different wood and size combination and now I'm finally settled. The Drueke was a once in a lifetime purchase to go with a smaller set. My new board is more cost effective but still quite nice. I'll post pix when I get it this weekend.
This is also going to be a Frankenchess set, with the addition of four knights of the Zagreb style in the same woods and sizes.
I will be getting a board to go with my new Dubrovnik set (1.6 di King, Boxwood/Sheesham). It will be a 2.25" squares.
Recommendations as to best woods that will go with it, provide a nice contrast, but not blend in too much?
