Rubbish. You mentioned one possibility in your own comment. Associate with a known good brand to give yourself credibility.

You have your answer in the post #238.

No, that doesn't answer it. That's actually the root of the question. The interview says they they expect it to work. They advert says it /does/ work. These are different things.

What he said!

I have an IQ of 152, yet you didn't care about my comments

WOW!, are you from MENSA too? are you friend of Angel?

You do know Mensa is extremely watered down and the most important criteria is the 40 EUR membership fee in Spain?  You don't even need an individually administered IQ test to qualify...just submit the test you use to apply to college.  They do have a good spokesperson and get a lot of people to sign up.

Do you know MENSA or you are lying again? The most important High IQ organization in the world is also a fake? WOW! Everything in this world is fake to you

You are misrepresenting again.  I've never said anything about Regium being fake.  My concern has been about the lack of information on their website.

Unlike your product, Mensa does have an informative website: https://www.us.mensa.org/join/testscores/qualifyingscorefaq/

I found it interesting that they even take old practice SAT.

@E02519 This conversation is pointless. You are so completely blind to any tiny tiny issue that you yourself have no credibility with me.

I hope you support the product and I hope you get the board that does everything it says it will with nothing missing and every last feature working as promised.

If Chess.com has stated that it will do everything possible to make it work, why won't it work? Regium explained in their last video that they have to develop that part, also they are said it in the interview, they are not hiding anything. The web says it works because it's what it will do when it's finished, it's shorter to put "it works" than to put a long and obvious explanation. You want to look for faults where there are none.

Rubbish 153. Obviously this is not the case.

Really not interested in your thoughts any more

Me neither in yours.
You said that before but you always comment on my comments and force me to respond.

BaronVonChickenpants

It's because you say so much absolute fan boy nonsense that it needs challenging. You don't seem to be able to comprehend that it's ok for people to have doubts.

Anyway, you'll have your wish as I am done responding to you. Enjoy having the last word!

Well I have reached out to some of the proponents of Regium outside of their website and on a few other social media platforms based on their profiles wasn’t easy but I used the photos to search them out and match them up. Hopefully they respond back to me.

Are you talking about you?

HemiCinder

No one forces anyone to respond, but the phrase, “the lady doth protest too much, methinks” really comes to mind here.

I tried to do this but could only find one of the peoples pictures anywhere else online.

HemiCinder

Well if I get a response I will post on this forum, as there is no doubt in my mind if the e-board works as suggested it will sell out immediately. I have also reached out to DGT to see if they know anything about a competitor that could effectively put them out of business with a superior product

Let's give to Regium chess the chance to show what they said they can do. I am not interested in gossiping around them. Facts will show us who they are and how far they can go. Period.

As a noob in this kind of stuff, what is the big difference between this Regium and let's say the Square off NEO? Because there will be quite a price difference in it.

I have a Square Off, for me it was disappointing. For example, some failures of Square Off:

- The pieces move one by one.

- It is veeeeery slow. You lose many seconds waiting for the end of the movement.

- The movements are inaccurate, especially if the board has dust.

- It's very very noisy.

- The pieces are very small. They are not FIDE size.

- The board is giant.

- Multiple boards cannot be networked for tournaments

- It is not e-Board

- Etc...

For me Square Off is good only for kids. I think that REGIUM will be a serious e-Board.

It's just way to risky to "invest" in a kickstarter project, no matter how much potential there is. However, a live technical demo with any of the many well known chess streamers could go a long way to prove the validity of the concept. It seems interesting that chess.com would have Regium as the speed chess sponsor, but not really have any indication of whether they have seen any sort of actual product.

So.... let me see if I understand what happened here.

1. There is a thread on chess.com critical of Regium.

2. Regium gives money to chess.com

3. Now the chess.com boss is very excited about Regium (while still knowing nothing about it)

Anybody that is dumb enough to back this kickstarter deserves to have their money stolen.

That's not totally accurate.

1. There is a thread with questions, postulations, criticisms, concerns, and opinions. I clarify that while we are not working together, this could be an amazing chessboard, and we have talked about working together, though we have not seen the board, nor have we created APIs to support it working on our site.

2. Regium sponsors our events.

3. I reiterate that while we are not working together yet, this could be an amazing chessboard, and we have talked about working together, though we have not seen the board, nor have we created APIs to support it working on our site.

We HOPE that this works as advertised, but we have no in-person proof that it does. As with all new technologies and kickstarters, everyone is free to give opinions, speculate, and support it or not. That said, as with many online forums, the amount of conspiratorial conjecture is high  .

I am hopeful that within the next few days we will all be offered irrefutable proof of this awesome technology. If it isn't presented, then that should be reflected in the lack of Kickstarter support. If it is presented, then that should also be reflected with likely strong Kickstarter support.

I don't think anyone doubts that this would be awesome to have. And, I, for one, would REALLY like to see it work! However, we do not endorse this product, and are not trying to convince anyone to back it. We are a platform for chess players, and they are a chess company that wants to advertise and build something awesome for chess fans.

There are really only a few options here:

1. This is an outright fraud, done with CGI, tricks, etc.

2. This is an amazing concept which has a working prototype, but may fail due to cost/difficulty of mass-producing it.

3. This is an amazing concept that will become a viable product and make everyone who buys it happy.

Those are just the realistic outcomes and possibilities. Now, how you allocate the % chance to 1, 2, and 3 above is just a matter of opinion at this time. I'm hopeful that the Regium team will do everything in its power to remove option 1 from the realm of possibilities. And once they do, consider me a backer!

An excellent summary of the dilema and one that reflects my own position. I hope the Regium project is successful. It would represent a significant advance in the eboard arena if it can be brought to market at a reasonable price. But I still have one or two doubts.

Erik, Regium still state clearly on their website that their eboard is "supported" by Chess.com (in addition to other playing sites). Do you think this is an accurate description or are they jumping the gun a bit?

Just wanted to jump in to state that Chess.com has not verified functionality between REGIUM's board and our platform. Our understanding is that this is still in development and is not currently functional.

We have offered to send out our representatives to the REGIUM offices in order to see if we can find a way to ensure compatibility and are currently awaiting a response.
