Does anyone know when rybka four is suposed to be released?

EternalChess

I heard they are making Rybka 3 Plus (fixing all the bugs, the engines a bit stronger), then Rybka 4?

why everyone needs the absolute strongest engine in the world is beyond me.  almost any engine today is capable of 2700+ levels.  why would anyone but the top ten players in the entire world need stronger than that?

i use shredder and love it.  gandalf, too. i'll never beat them, so they make me smile lol.

I recently bought a powerful computer that coupled with Rybka 4 will make me the strongest player on this site. Wink

I shall change my name to Omeachita...unless it's already been done or something.

don't forget Robbolitto is now the most powerful engine on single core right now.

In fact, in fast time controls its ranges from +50-+80 Elo >  Rybka and is ~= rybka 2 core.

A mulicpu version will be out soon and will probably be as powerful or more than Rybka 4.

The delay with Rybka 4 release is because this new engine threatens its dominance.

btw it is charged that Robbolitto is a clone of Rybka 3 but no proof has been provided by Rybka team.

DrawMaster

Has anyone been able to get either Rybka 2.2 or Robbolito to successfully serve as a UCI engine in ChessBase 9?

I keep getting errors.

Tnk64ChessCourse

I want RobboLito but I don't know how to compile source code. Has anyone compiled it for Aquarium or Arena?

It will make you the strongest player hmmmm :) Oh well I found this funny. For 99% of the players on this site you could likely get Fritz 5 (or any of a dozen free engines :) on a netbook and it would find all your tactical mistakes. :)

I'm glad you found it funny as that was my intention, though few seemed to realise this. I could have used an emoticon to indicate the humour but I prefer playing sarcasm with a straight face. Don't you think that many of the "Top Players" here will need a copy just to keep up with their contemporaries? (nudge, nudge, wink, wink.)

In a recent interview, Vasik Rajlich, the writer of Rybka, has said that it will be released sometime in 2010. He was unwilling to give a more specific date, saying instead that it would be released when "it was ready".

vladan7

I have compiled Robbolito for my Linux machine. And so far I think it's far better that Rybka in the endgames. And it's by any means not worse than Rybka in middlegame.

btw it is open source, so allegations of Rajlich that it might be clone of Rybka are groundless

He who dies with the fastest engine wins......Wink

Lol, it's open source and Rybka is still having delays in outperforming them? Haha, I guess they don't have time to read their code for answers.

Rybka 4 is ending up a disaster. Topalov paid big money for it, but they lost. Now it turns out thereare many bugs, and it doesn't even beat Rybka 3 yet. The Bulgarians really got it bad for them.

Chess-Base had Rybka 4 Beta playing and it did Qxd8 here. Nobody else would play that. Would you pay untold amounts to a remote engine for this? The Computer chess ratings had even had Rybka 4 (beta) as 15 Elo worse than Rybka 3 currently. After 20 months, its lost almost a point a month. The "Rybka team" and the fanboys insists it will magically gain before the release, but why didnt the Bulgarians get the gains with how much they paid? No one is going to pay for shoddy merchandise full of bugs that don't get fixed, even if "Vas" promises that the rental version will not be so horrible, and who knows how that really works, as no one outside his "fan club" can check it. The "clones" are already more than 50 Elo ahead, and he needs to gain that much past them for anyone to buy it. The crooked companies are already taking "preorders" for Rybka 4 even though there is no product to be found, and it could be even worse than before.

BillStrong

Your whispering campaign can stop, myou27. Rybka 4 is only in beta currently, and will have some bugs. The cluster code was completely independent, so Topalov can only blame himself. Rybka 4 should be at least 100 ELO greater than Rybka 3, and the online rental version even better than that.

The real issue is whether Rajlich will give back the money to those who bought Rybka 3 thinking that permanent hash would work, after it was advertized so much. Unless someone launches a class action at him, he is unlikely to budge.

arunrajeie

rybka is the best engine in the world.......no one can doubt about it...
