In my opinion and from my experience one of the most practical chess sets ever produced for standard tournament play is Harold Wood. The stability/balance and proportion of Harold Wood set is almost unequalled when it comes to everyday practical chess thanks to wide bases of the chess pieces and very well balanced weighting. I am happy to see that House of Staunton has reproduced this historic set and has made it available to all chess lovers at a very reasonable price.
