you can buy rybka 4 online? where?

chessroboto

To set an engine, click on the Engine tab the click on the first icon on the left of the ribbon. Select the Rybka 4 engine that should have been installed when you installed Rybka 4, then click ok.

After you select an engine, click on the Openings tab on the right of the screen where you usually see the move list. If you see the Load button, click it and navigate to where you saved the .CTG file for the opening book of your choice.

You can buy the different flavors of Rybka4 from chesscentral.com or chesshouse.com.

I downloaded from chessok.com.

When I click on engines it brings up a list of engines.

Does this mean these are the engines that are installed?

chessroboto

Yes. Only the engines that are installed properly will be seen by the Rybka program.

And yes, it is possible to purchase downloadable versions of Rybka4 that works with the Convekta Aquarium GUI environment from chessok.com.

Chessbase.com also sells the Rybka4 versions that runs in the Chessbase/Fritz GUI environment. It depends on your personal preference and budget.

EDIT

Schappy

It looks like multiple engines are installed.

Im still getting the "cant activate engine" message but everything seems to run fine.

How many engines can you select wherein you do not see that error?

FYI, Rybka4 requires activation. You can find that under the "Help" or "About..." portions the program. You should find an option to "Activate..." somewhere along the way.

Yes, you have to activate Rybka using the serial number. there is an "activate" button under the button on the top far left menu bar. I suspect that your game is not activated.

If you bought the Chessbase version, you could have clicked on the circle logo on the upperleft of the Rybka4 window then select "Activate..." in the drop-down menu. I am not sure where it would be in the Convekta or Aquarium versions .

I think I have everything installed correctly but am not understanding how to setup the engines.

On the engines screen there is a list of several engines including Rybka 4 x64, Rybka 4 960x64 and Rybka observer.

All of the engines are set to low priority.

How should I set this up?

chessroboto

I believe that you have stepped into the realm of engine configuration.

You best resource for such: Rybka Forum or http://rybkaforum.net/cgi-bin/rybkaforum/forum_show.pl

guys i really  have problems with rybka i downloaded it but every time i run it the command prompt always pops out also leezazero

chessroboto

Where did you download your copy of Rybka from? There is no command prompt window during the installation of Rybka or any of the Chessbase apps. If you didn't purchase the software from official sources, you probably downloaded an installer for malware instead.

It sounds like you've downloaded only the Rybka engine executable.  If you run that you will indeed be presented with a command line prompt. You need to download an interface. Arena is a popular and free choice --->> http://www.playwitharena.de/
