Saitek Chess Challenger bad play

Sort:

Hi,

Anyone has a Saitek Chess Challenger?

Mine, at level C7 (50 moves in 2:00) plays really bad (as blacks):

1. e2-e3    d7-d6

2. f1-b5+   d8-d7 (giving the Queen)

3. b5xd7+   e8-d8 (not taking the bishop)

Could it be defective somehow?

Can anyone please test this on his own Saitek Chess Challenger?

Thanks!

It has on some strong level modes such behaviour (giving up pieces on purpose). In "ply" level mode it plays sharp without exception, even on "1 ply" sub-level. Later they discovered hidden menu/options not presented in the manual, with all imaginable adjustments possible (pondering is just one of them). Physicality of pieces e.t. human experience of really playing is without match. No online play so there's no possibility of opponent's cheating. Hint: when activating secret options mode, "study" mode will be temporarily disabled, while you don't reset it again.

Hi, most probably your device has been previously set to one of the fun levels, and is stuck on this setting, whatever effort you do to switch to C7. Suggest you insert a pin in the ACL labelled hole and push a couple of secs to reset the computer (ACL stands for all clear). Or remove the batteries (at least one) to perform a cold start at power-up, when you insert them back in place. Mine always plays 1... g7-g6 (3 times tried). For more explanation, check this , fun-level bug section (using a translator if needed, German language).

Hope this helps!

At least from me @kiwimotard, big thank you (for advice and link)! I hope the poster from the 10y old post will get the info as well.
