There's no need for yet another thread on that. You'll find tons of posts about these boards in the forum.
Smart Chess Board for Online Play

Hi Matthias!
I love future tech so I have bought the Chessnut, the Phantom and the GoChess boards. However, only the Chessnut is currently a real product. The Phantom has been in crowdfunding limbo in years, and the GoChess campaign is still running. So nobody knows whether those two boards will ever see the light of day. I like throwing money at startups, but any sensible consumer would wait and see. The Phantom and the GoChess seem very comparable. Personally, I trust the Phantom mechanics more, but the team behind GoChess has a great track record with their excellent GoCube.
The ChessNut is an excellent board! I thought I would be annoyed that I had to move my opponent's pieces, but no, you get used to that in five minutes. Resetting a board is also much quicker when you do it yourself. Some people have found the piece registration a bit unreliable. Typically if they slide the pieces instead of lifting them and putting them down. I haven't had any issues.
The only thing I miss is real integration with Chess.com. When I bought the board, it worked fine. Now it doesn't.

I like throwing money at startups, but any sensible consumer would wait and see.
If you have too much money, consider spending it on charities instead!

Hi Matthias, I just finished posting an update based on my efforts to get DGT smart board working with online play: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-equipment/chess-e-board
You don't say whether you have a preference for Chess.com, LiChess or other??
I have DGT working on LiChess. I have Chessnut Air+ working on Chess.com and LiChess. It may depend if you're 'tied' to one or the other?
Hi there,
I‘m looking for a smart chess board to play online, as I like the physical feeling and don‘t want to stare at a screen in my spare time. Further, I appreciate high quality and well-designed wooden sets. Thus, I‘d be willing to pay a higher price.
I‘d be very thankful for recommendations backed up with a brief explanation why you like the chosen board the most.
What I‘ve found so far:
- the Chessnut Pro
- the Phantom Board
- the GoChess-Set
Additional question to those owning self-moving boards: Why did you choose them over e.g. the chessnut board?
Thanks a lot!!
All the best
Matthias
