Smart chessboard for analysis and puzzles

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a chessboard that’s useful for analysis, studying with physical books, and practicing puzzles. Why a smart board? Well, I’m not the smartest player, so having a “smart” chessboard helps balance things out! Jokes aside, I like the idea of having my offline games or moves recorded, the ability to play against bots offline, and the option to “play this puzzle against the computer” to understand why my ideas were wrong.

From what I’ve researched, the main options seem to be Chessnut and Particula (spelling?). They’re not cheap, but they could be worth the investment if they’re genuinely helpful tools and not just gimmicks. Chessnut has the Go, which is portable and relatively affordable, but I know they’re also coming out with the Move, which automatically moves the pieces. I think the Particula boards already have the piece-moving feature. I imagine this would be amazing for puzzles.

I’ve also heard good things about the Evo board.

I’m particularly interested in personal experiences from people who own any of these boards and use them for studying. Are they as practical and effective as they seem, or are they more of a novelty? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Of course, I’m also open to other brands.

I have "Go" and end up using it on the end just from time to time. As of "move" or "particula", screen succession of puzzles are still much faster. If you insist on using physical books, as someone said, our hands are still much faster then today's "moving pieces" technology or robotic hand. Best solution still are the actual apps with split-screening technology (half e-board, half e-book) and analyzing apps ("Chessis").

Basically, what you are saying is that a 15" cheap Android tablet would serve me better for study purposes.

Even more ideal than phone, of course.
