Soviet chess primer or Logical chess move my move

If you want a game collection and like to learn as you go and figure things out yourself, logical chess is great

^ do you have a better suggestion then @Ubik42?
I think beginners don't know the first thing about analyzing games, and I don't know what a better starting book is

Btw, I still consider myself a beginner, and I'm enjoying The Soviet Chess Primer.
Logical Chess' writing seems a bit puerile, and I can flip through pages pretty easily, whereas I like the density of the Soviet Primer. It takes me time to work through the book, but I enjoy it.

Alekhine’s “my best games of chess” is a good start because games and notes are very clear and thorough. Ignore the outdated comments on openings.
Silman’s Endgame Manual is great for beginners and up.
Those world be my 3 picks, maybe also an easier tactics book before Polgar, not that it’s hard, but maybe it’s too much for a total beginner.

Soviet Chess Primer is recommended primarily for players rates 1500 and higher. It would be extremely challenging, and over the head of beginners. Check out instead...
