Square off Pro?

Thank you for this link and the advice on how to flatten the board. I had already did what you suggested and placed weight on the board, but it did not resolve the problem of the air bubbles.

Gaetan-Charland

I am new to this game and try to learn to be better, I registered to this website to learn more how to play chess. The reason I bought this Square board was to play with my grandchild who lives quite a way from me. I still am not able to play with the board using Chess.com or Lichess, I do not know how to do this even after I made the link between those two website and the Square board. Maybe you could enlighten me on how to do this.

Mine also has air bubbles, maybe I should make a hole inside ? But then it won't be waterproof anymore.

Gaetan-Charland

I also wanted to make small hole to remove the air bubbles but was afraid it might damage the wiring or the integrity of the board itself.  But I tend to think like another member suggested that the bubbles might be caused by the silicon that needs to be restored to its original size after being expended due to the board being rolled for transport. If this is right, maybe this is an issue that could be fixed by the company.

@Gaetan-Charland  What point are you stuck on?  You said that you were able to link up both sites.  Are you able to select the site when playing on the app?
Gaetan-Charland

I have linked the Square off app to both Chess.com and Lichess in the Square off app after I registered myself to Chess.com and Lichess. What do I need to do to connect the board to either of those platforms? Is it done within the Square app or from the other apps? If from the other apps, how is it done?

You can't play in chess.com with it, you can play against players on chess.com which is different, you need to use the squareoff app only. I was also surprised that there was no connectivity between the board and chess.com directly.

The most annoying thing with this board is having to turn it around when you play black or white... and there is a lot of static electricity inside.

I poked a small hole at the bottom of the board but the air bubbles didn't go away, they are somewhere else.

Thank you for the link to Squareoff pro concerning connecting with other platforms. I was in the belief that could play with the board against the computer of other platforms, maybe that will come one day. I also found a way to move the board without any problems, I cut a piece of Masonite board of 1/4 inch tick to the size of the chess board and glued some felt pad underneath it and lay the chess board on it so I can move it, and turn it without any problems. As for the aire bubbles, it looks as if with time it diminishes.

Thanks for all the help of this community of chess players.

If you want to play "against the computer", you can use the the SOP board to play against the AI (bots) using the White Pawn and Chess Dojo apps today... it works very well.

Or if you want to play against a computer you could use Arena, CB-Emu (Arena), Fritz, LucasChess or Shredder.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will look it up.

Is there anyway to play a rated game against (any) computer with the SOP?

I don't care if it's a web site bot, or computer program, or phone app. Similar to what you can do on ICC against their bots, but using the SOP.

Dear friends, I do not know what to do and which board to buy. I am close to SquareOff Pro but I have some concerns, why not chessnutair? If You could take back the time - Would You buy square off pro, again? Thanx for Your advice.

The Square Off Pro is good in my opinion. I don't have many problems with mine these days. The application is still a complete battery hog, however.

I haven't tried the Chessnut Air, but I am strongly considering purchasing one. I also have a DGT Pegasus. They've been working on a new application with a new team for around 8 months with an imminent release. If it's not up to snuff, I am definitely going to buy a Chessnut Air. The Pegasus has been a disaster.

I too have the SoP and the Pegasus.  I really like the SoP.  The battery life is excellent and the app works well except for the battery drain on the phone.  The Pegasus is nice and I like the glowing circles to indicate moves but I dislike how FAST it runs out of battery life.  I play 2 or 3 games it it is out of juice.  The only thing I dislike about the Sop is it is difficult to rotate if you are playing the color not facing you.  I know there are a lot of workarounds but I like to move mine around a bit depending on where I feel like playing.  Systems like the Pegasus are so easy to move around.  I am currently looking at the Chessnut Air and the Chessup.  the Chessup is just being widely released and I am hoping to hear some real life feedback before I decide which one I want.  I am a little hesitant on the Chessup since it is pretty expensive and I am not sure if the features warrant the price.  If anyone has a Chessup please let us know what you think of it.

Welp my experience isn't that great with them

The white bishop rattles something fierce and has issues connecting to the board. (It will connect but it takes time)

I'm going to return this thing I think.

The rattle is a loose or broken magnet. Pull the pad off the bottom to check. The pad will reattach

@RetroHempel

Make sure you have given the location permission in the app and switch on your GPS. Beyond that, don't go in the phone settings and connect but do it in the app just as you do in the Chessnut app. I hope this was helpful. Best wink

I ordered the board and the bag.  Didn't get the bag.

The white knight doesn't match the set, it's yellow.

Did you contact support for the chess piece issue? Usually they replace it if there is any issue with the chess piece.
