Long time chess computer fan here, having owned a Saitek President in the early 1990s as well as the regular DGT eBoards with various chess computers (android phone + acid ape chess, Fritz on the PC, etc.). I bought the Supreme board wanting to love it. The 4-corner LEDs are awesome. I bought the device a couple weeks ago and here is my feedback:
The good:
-great size, pieces are 'good enough', board actually looks decent, maybe a step below DGT in this regard but still nice
-connectivity is great with chess link, using Hiarcs on iPhone and Mac, plays a reliable stable game. I have not tried online chess with it.
The bad:
- 2 pieces defective out of the box. They don't register at all. Playing email tag with Millennium support and no solution in sight. Support is barely responsive.
-the board scratches and nicks with even the lightest touch. Just accidentally toppled a knight and it gouged a chunk out of the veneer. With regular use, this board would be in horrible shape in a year or two.
Millennium - you are so close but not quite there yet!
My advice:
-rush out the new phoenix boards for individual purchase, as I hear they have a more durable foil cover. Not everyone wants a $1200 retro/emu 'phoenix' computer unit and are totally happy using their iPhone as a chess computer
-improve quality control
-breathe life into your support responses, obsess over the customer more
I don't like the fact that there is no option to chat during the game. You lose that option when you connect the E-board with chess.com.
