I am searching for Kasparov’s The Test of Time (1986) but am having trouble finding a copy. From what I’ve found online, it’s out of print and not many copies in good condition remain. When they do surface, prices are high.

Can anyone give me a bit more information on the book itself, and potentially what the market’s like at the moment?

P.s I know it’s likely available online in some illegitimate PDF format. I’m interested in the physical book.

“Kasparov Fighting Chess My Games and Career”, is the same book, word for word, published by Batsford. Much later Kasparov republished it and renamed it, “test of time” and published by Pergamon press.

Or you could get “Test of Time” on eBay for around $100 softcover, $450+ hardcover.

Fighting Chess is not the same book as Test of Time. I have both and there is almost no overlap. There is much more overlap with Kasparov’s more recent three-volume collection of best games, published by Everyman.

I do apologize, I was under the impression that the two books were the same. I was told however that the story’s remained the same in either of the books.

A used paperback copy in "Acceptable" condition is listed at over $2400 on Amazon.  That seems ridiculous to me.  Are there people who will actually pay prices like that?
