I have never watched that one, but have had other courses from The Great Courses and they were top notch. As good or better than university classes.
The Great Courses Chess Course from Silman

I have it, and enjoyed it. It requires multiple viewings to be of optimal value augmented with his Endgame and Reassess or other like books. Best purchased when on sale.

Thanks for the reccomendation. I think I'll pick this up and maybe another course of two on some other subjects.

The price of the Jeremy Silman chess course (DVD version) has just been reduced to $39.95 USD or $34.95 (download version). The advertisement I received in the mail said the sale ends on 2/11/2016.
Either of the following links should get you to the correct webpage for the sale (search on 'chess'):
thegreatcourses.com/search/?q=chess
trygreatcourses.com
Be sure to select the course listed as on sale for $34.95 (unless, of course, you prefer to pay more!)

Has anyone downloaded this course (or any other) and viewed it on an ipad?
If so, how is the ease of use and the interface?

Yes, I have. The interface on The Great Courses app is very good.
But note, you do not download on the iPad app, you stream.

And I take that back, yoou can download them on the iPad. I would have to give the iPad app 5 stars out of 5, very nice interface and with downloading it means I can watch on the plane.

Thanks Rsava
This makes it very tempting especially at the sale price. The app and other courses sound interesting also

Can anyone tell me if Silman has a lazy eye? It looks like it in the lecture and it is slightly disconcerting.

Silman has several excellent courses on Chess Mentor, which I think you might check out. I think this is more helpful than just looking at a book.

"The price of the Jeremy Silman chess course... or $34.95 (download version)."
I don't find this sale. Can anyone help me?

I got the DVD version, but you also get to stream after purchase, watching now and it looks very good. 24 lectures of about 30 minute length. A lot of history is mixed in the lecture.
Level: beginner to may be intermediate (have not finnish yet).
Flipping though a catalog I got in the mail today I found this.

Wondering if anyone has ever watched/listened to these? I have his endgame book and was wondering if this would be a good buy. (That price is a bit much but it is on sale elsewhere)
