Tournament set, White or Natural?

Sort:
Bronco

I'm going to buy my first tournament set and I'd like some advice / opinions . Ivory or Natural for the white pieces? Also why do you like one over the other? Is one easier to "see" or is it a personal thing. I'm getting the green and buff colors for board.

Thanks for the info!

White pieces are too stark, get the ivory/off-white.

I prefer the natural. Certainly easier on the eyes after a few hours at the board.

with tournament boards I pefer white but on normal day-to-day boards I like natrual

do you guys think it's easier on the eyes (less eye fatigue) or do you see all of the pieces / board (possible threats) better. Since I'm a novice I do tend to get tunnel vision and sometimes not see everything I should, but that could be being too aggressive on my part too.

thanks for the input!

I also prefer natural. It's just more pleasing to the eye.

With a green and buff board the natural stands out just fine. I also prefer the natural. As an eye doctor I believe the slightly reduced contrast is easier on the eyes during a game.

The only problem with the piece color blending in with the square color is when the dark pieces and dark squares are the same color.

Natural.  White looks great... for a minute.  Too stark for extended play though.

Au natural.
