Tournament size folding travel wooden sets?

Hey chess lovers out there. I have been wanting a folding tournament size wooden chess set. Like the smaller ones you see everywhere. The best place I have seen sizes that I am looking for are at houseofchess.com. I do have plenty of wooden tournament sets but not a folding case/board. I may end up having a local wood worker make the case/board for me. I do like solid wood over veneered boards anyways.

Folding travel sets are usually made smaller, with lightweight materials, because traveling people don't usually like to carry bulky heavy items.

While a folding solid wood tournament board sounds like a fun idea, wouldn't it weigh at least 5 pounds?

I understand that but I mainly want a board/case to bring to club from time to time. Wooden boards and sets are more enjoyable than your plastic sets on vinyl club boards. Mainly for club use.

I think HoS has algebraic notation tourny sized folding boards.  they just hinge in the middle.

A folding wood board...17.5 x 17.5 inch, and 2.00 inch squares...

A similar one...same square size, but with notation...

You might contact Brad Borkowski, (aka ColoradoWoodWorker) about making a custom solid wood board for you....he does good work.....

BillsWoodPile custom chess boards also get good reviews...

I'm not interested in a folding board only. I am interested in a board that is also a case for tournament size chessmen. I do have a local wood worker who has made me boards in the past. I may end up having him do it.

A post on this forum last year produced this high polymer plastic set for consumers: This set does not come with double queens, if you need them you'd have to order the extra queen pieces separately in a pair (light and dark) or the set without the board to get the extra queens. FYI.

There's always the ubiquitous wood sets from Wegiel, available at Amazon and other places.  They aren't fancy but are quite functional:

No. 6 Tournament

No. 5 Tournament

I found this to be pretty tempting... stumbled upon it while surfing Amazon last week.  The pieces aren't wooden but look fairly impressive, although I'm guessing you have your own pieces anyway.  Board is American walnut and maple, with 2.35" squares.

I believe I have found what I was looking for and found the price to be quite awesome. It is not solid wood put it will do for what I am wanting.

Just an opinion, but that looks like the Wegiel No 6 chess set with the pieces removed.  The price is nice, but keep in mind that you will be shipping from Europe, adding an additional $20 in shipping to the price.

Actually the shipping is less than $20 from this store.

I no longer support House of Staunton. Every order I got from them. There was a defect. If they could not send me good quality products upon ordering. They do not deserve my money. I know that they do try and fix the issues with defects but when I continually get defective products. It shows me a lack of quality control on their end. The last one to touch the sets. Are the most responsible for sending out a bad product. This is why I am no longer a House of Staunton / USCF Sales customer.

Technically, yes, at 15.50 Euro with today's exchange rate, that would be $17.37 in shipping to the US.
