Venture Board Vs. Other 3D travel chess sets..

I had a 5 inch chess set that was magnetic. I traded it for a venture board because I could not close the first travel chess setVwith the pieces standing up. I really enjoy the venture board because I can keep the position when studying. However, the 2D pieces make it hard to see the board for both players. I also don't like the fact that if I drop my venture board the pieces fly everywhere. Any advice on transitioning to a 3D chess set? 6 inch size is big enough for me but I have an open ear to other advice. I hope to travel with it as well. Thank you.

3D ventureboard chess board also exist, you can buy it on their website. The pieces look nice and the board is the same as in 2D.

Can't keep the position but ideal for traveling.
