Vintage West German Set probably made by Bohemia

Here's some pics of a vintage circa 1950s West German set probably made by Bohemia. Kings measure 3.75" in height and Pawns at 1.75".  Bobby Fischer played on a similar set at the 1970 Siegen Olympiad,  but with the infamous "chicken head" Knights.

Dang Mike thats a nice set.! I really like the queen, the 4 pigs & the bishops without the stupid slits. The knights are ok & will probably grow on you with use.

I think the Dragon Knights are awesome. Far superior to the hideous chicken head knights. Inasmuch as I've seen that same set with those knights sold as a Bohemia, I'd say it's more than merely probable that it's a Bohemia. Great pics of a beautiful German set.

Really nice set, goodknightmike. Those knights are special.

I've got the same set, with dragon head knights, that was gifted to me by a Russian master visiting NY about twenty years ago. I never knew the provenance. Mine doesn't have a box, though. Thanks!

Your welcome Robert, very nice gift from the Russian master. What size board do you use with your set?  My set works well on a 2" square board.

Mine works best with a 2" board also. Shown here on a 2" Berea College board.

Robert, thanks for the gorgeous pics of your Bohemia set and board

rcmacmillan, I'm not sure if I'm seeing that clearly. Are the manes of the knights the same on both left and right sides?

Those knights remind me of someone ... null

Oh Ronbo710, it's all fun and games until he comes one night to your house and takes you away and you get stuck in a never-ending story. Then what?

I see where the Modern Series chessmen got its influence from. The Knights from the Modern Series have a cobra shape to them.
