I think vr chat has a chessboard that you can spawn in, haven't tried it though.

I will have to check. I think the problem with some of those.. even like Rec Room is it is not focused on one game and so it doesn't draw the right crowd. There is poker in those multi-game rooms but hardly played... however on PokerStars VR - dedicated to just poker - it's always loaded with players. Thinking the same way for VR Chess - a nice dedicated VR Chess game.

Well... I took it upon myself to just start developing one. Seems not all that hard actually with using Unity 3D. I'll post the apk when I finish it for anyone that has a Quest and would like to try it out.

Yea that is a great example... that current one is only with the Rift which is wired and you need a gaming computer. I want to take that same concept and have it for the wireless Quest. And mainly built around online multiplayer...as if you are sitting right over a real board playing someone.

That what we were talking about. If you could play VR Battle chess like Harry Potter. That would seriously be off the chain. Have pieces flying at you. Awesome concept. Bout who here has the knowledge to build it. Let it be a game built by chess players for chess players.

I have the basic knowledge of Unity 3D to build the VR chess game... I would have to hire developers though for all the graphics. I'm going to just start with a playable VR board that is online multiplayer for anyone that has the Quest. Then... probably make it open source and let others contribute to making it awesome.

i am a beginner and use Rift s and use "Magicians Gambit" it is solo only for the moment but has potential if it gets multiplayer development

There already is a be chess game called chess ultra for rift with multiplayer for 13$ however all the rating I see rate this game as really subpar
There is Chess Club that is available in Oculus store. I know it’s working well on Quest 2 and Rift. It is multiplayer and it is working well.
There are three boards yet, and one of them is Stonehenge, which are miniatures who fight each other when you capture. It’s pretty fun!
Does anyone in here have the Oculus Quest or Rift? Wouldn't it be awesome to have a VR Chess game to play against others online over the feel of a real board. Can't believe it isn't to be found yet!
